Job Description:
The Executive Director (ED) will lead Habitat for Humanity of
Pueblo, Inc. (HFHP). By working collaboratively with the Board of
Directors, the ED will work to advance the mission of HFHP &
support the needs of Pueblo County. The ED should be committed to
the HFHP mission & willing to build relationships with families,
volunteers, local agencies, state agencies, federal agencies, &
charitable foundations committed to addressing the need for
affordable housing. The ED must understand & appreciate the culture
& traditions that make southern Colorado unique.Provide leadership
& guidance to all paid & volunteer personnel. Oversee day-to-day
operations of HFHP. Collaborate with the Board to develop and
implement the organization's mission, strategy, and annual goals.
Direct staff & operational components of the organization toward
achieving these goals. Manage fundraising, community relations,
fiscal management, strategic planning, and staff
supervision.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Administration & ManagementOversee implementation of affiliate
policies & procedures. Responsible for public accountability of the
organization & implementation of policies approved by the
Board.Serve as the communication link between the Board, the
affiliate staff, & HFHP committees.Supervise & assess the
performance of all staff. Performs & assists staff with screening,
hiring, & termination of staff.Provide oversight to Habitat ReStore
by coordinating with the ReStore Manager to see that policies,
procedures, & goals are effectively carried out.Consult with the
Treasurer & Bookkeeper on financial reports as needed for Board
Meetings, grants, & funding sources.Prepare & submit all reports
required by Habitat International & Habitat Colorado.Work with an
accounting firm to ensure that all city, state, & federal tax
reports are prepared & filed on a timely basis.Work with staff to
prepare & submit reports required by external agencies (i.e., grant
reports).
- Board CommunicationPrepare the agenda for Board of Directors
meetings with the Board Chairperson.Prepare monthly reports for
Board of Directors Meeting.Assist the Board with long-term planning
through the creation & implementation of a Strategic Plan.
Periodically work with the Board to evaluate efforts in fulfilling
strategic goals.Assist Board in recruiting & training new Board
members.
- Resource Management & DevelopmentOversee the creation of the
Annual Fundraising Plan.Be the "face" of HFHP in cooperation with
community partners.Identify funding & grant sources & coordinate
with affiliate staff & Board members for submissions.Provide
leadership for solicitation of major gifts, including identifying &
meeting with major corporate & individual donors.Cultivate in-kind
materials & land donations whenever possible & report all real &
potential donations to the Finance committee chairperson.Develop
the annual budget with the assistance of the accounting firm & the
finance committee.Serve as Liaison to secure & assist with annual
audit.
- ConstructionOversees the planning, design, & approvals of
board-approved construction & developments.Facilitates the
construction of dwellings through the coordination of volunteers &
paid contractors.Maintain a close working relationship with
contractors, including working knowledge of the site & process to
ensure that houses are built within time & budgetary
parameters.
- Public RelationsServe as primary spokesperson for the
organization.Expand HFHP visibility & partnerships in the
community.Support the involvement of applicable staff in activities
& events that support their work for HFHP.Basic Position
Requirements
- Previous experience in nonprofit management or other relevant
management experience preferred.
- Meet deadlines & effectively manage complex projects.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products &
social media platforms.
- Effective verbal, interpersonal, & written communication
skills.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities & strong organizational
skills.
- Ability to establish, foster, & maintain effective working
relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, the
public, city government, state agencies, federal agencies,
charitable foundations, & community service agencies.
- Ability to create a long-term vision & provide leadership.
- Knowledge of fundraising principles & processes & the ability
to develop working relationships with potential funding
sources.
- Ability to identify & resolve problems promptly, gather &
analyze information skillfully, & effectively lead by displaying
sound & accurate judgment.
- Ability to communicate HFHP program & mission clearly &
persuasively in a variety of settings & to a variety of
constituencies.
- Knowledge of the home/modular construction process, safety
procedures, & the use of equipment & materials.Salary Range$55,000
